1954: Leonard Rennie founds Rennies Travel.

Mid-1960s: Thomas Cook acquires a stake in Rennies Travel, rebranding it as Thomas Cook Rennies Travel Ltd.
- 1970s-1980s
- Expansion of branches across South Africa.
- 1988: Thomas Cook sells its stake, and the company becomes Safren Rennies Travel Ltd.
- 1990s
- 1995: Partnership with BTI/BCD Travel, expanding global reach.
- 1998: Bidvest acquires a 100% stake in Rennies Travel

- Introduction of Online Booking Tools (OBTs).
- 2001: 25% of Rennies equity acquired by Women’s Development Bank Investment Holdings.
